The District Forum turned down the claim and the State Commission upheld the Forumís order. What stand did the National Commission take? The parents of Durga Dalal, who had bought a Sony TV, claimed that the TV had suddenly become non-functional and hence the insurance company was bound to reimburse the consumer on the basis of a household policy. They submitted a claim for Rs.30,000 on the grounds that the TV had been completely damaged. As the amount was not paid, they complained to the District Forum.
