The Tamilnadu Consumer Protection Organization Chennai, is a national, non-governmental Movement i.e., Voluntary, non-political, non-profitable, civic minded, Secular and registered Under societies Act. This Organization is working for the promotion and development of Indian Citizens interest and their welfare. This Organization was establishment in 2003 and it expanded its activities in various districts of Tamilnadu and Puducherry, India.
This Organization is recognized by civil supplies and Consumer Protection Department Govt. of Tamilnadu the Motto of this Organization is to spread the news about the Public Welfare, Consumer Rights and Protection and make the Public to Protect from the unfair trade practices followed by many traders and unrecognized Organizations. Since its inception, mere legislations cannot assure Consumer Protection. In addition to legislation, Consumers should establish this Organization to fight against & unfair trade practices. We are taking up such cases at the appropriate planning to widen the activities of this Organization at every nook and corner of the greater Chennai district in Tamilnadu, India.
This Organization imparts training, research, education, Grievances and complaints, Vigilance, Counseling, Publication and Media, Public Meeting, Library Creating Awareness and Advocacy to all groups. It build Linkages and work in partnership with Social Organization at grass root level to strengthen the common public in general and down-trodden and most backward communities in particular and empower then to participate through initiatives in socio-economic accountable, governances, gender equalization and ecological endeavors. Further TNCPO strive to attain quality of life through Awareness.
Apart from rendering services towards to Lobby for changes in Public Policies and legislation for the Promotion of Human Rights, Health Awareness, and Protection we have been actively involved in many social Activities like Educational Assistance and bring up every people above poverty line and earn for its own living and to prevent them migrating to urban areas.
This Organization is a democratic set-up recognized by Government of Tamilnadu the General Body and Executive Committee the General Body and Executive Committee take policy decisions and the Management committee looks after the day today activities of the Organization. To carry out the issues various directories Viz, Training Agriculture, Food, Women Concern, Public Utilities, Standards, Environment. Self Governance, Health Memberships and Legal Areas have been created Training directorates and under take seminars, Work shops, campaigns etc.
In recognition of Many Social Services rendered by this Organization since its inception, this Organization has been included to the Mailing list as an V.C.O’s Member in State Consumer Protection Council Tamilnadu, Chennai district Consumer Protection Council under the Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department Government of Tamilnadu, Advisory Committee Member, Government General Hospital, Park Town, Chennai-3, Advisory Committee Member, Government Kilpauk Medical College & Hospital, Kilpauk, Chennai-10. Management committee Member, Transport Department (New Prepaid Auto System) Advisory Committee Member, Chennai City Police Greater Chennai, Affiliation Member, Consumer Confederation of India (CCI), Advisory Committee Member Confederation of Indian Organizations for Service and Advocacy (CIOSA) Advisory Committee Member of TNEB, Metropolitan Transport Corporation, and Drugs Control Board.
