Introduction:
Liquefied petroleum GAS, (LPG). LPG plays vital role in everybody day today life in all aspects, as per different government policies they implement each individual should hold a cylinder at home. Residential to commercial LPG has become must.
Objectives:
In order to avoid exploitation create awareness about consumer rights among common people and be cautious make them know that they are valuable consumer in means of LPG.
What is LP GAS?
There are two LP Gases that can be stored in liquid from which only moderate pressurization PROP ANA AND BUTANE, ISOBUTENE, which has the same simple chemical formula as butane but has a different chemical structure, is also used usually butane and isobutene are mixed in propane in various properties.
Source of LP Gas:
LP Gas is fossil gas, it can be refined from Oil and natural gas the same was gasoline is refined from crude oil. While most energy companies are not focused on LP Gases, they produce them nonetheless because they are a by product of the refining process for other fuels.
How LP Gas works:
LP Gas is mainstay for heating and cooking in certain areas in India.
Properties of LPG:
- LPG is twice as heavy as air and half as heavy as water.
- LPG is colorless and odorless; hence an odorant is used to detect leaks.
- LPG can be compressed at a ratio of 1:250, which enables it to be marked in portable containers in liquid form.
- LPG is safe fuel and ignites only within the specified LPD-air ratio of 2% to 9%.
Advantage of LPG compared to other fuels
- Clean burning
- No soot, burners have a longer life-so maintenance is low
- No spillage as it vaporizes at atmospheric temperature and pressure.
- Effects of corrosion are greatly reduced
- Instantly controllable flame temperature
- Very high efficiency with direct firing system
- Instant heat for faster warm-up and cool-down
- Can be used for a variety of applications.
Kinds of LP Gas:
- domestic Gas,
- Industrial Gas &
- Auto Gas
Incase Leakage of cylinder at resident, important steps should be handled:
- Open house doors and window for ventilation
- Do not light stove or use any flammable objects.
- Do not switch on any electrical means.
- Do not allow any patient or children to enter particular room.
Uses of LPG in different sectors:
Uses of LPG differ according to sectors, sub-dived as private and public sectors.
In private sectors companies uses for office purposes and for separate usages.
In public sectors like, Autorikshaws, meter taxi, public buses etc.
Problems faced by Consumers day today life:
In day today life our INDAN Consumers overcome lot of problem at resident in which LPG cylinder plays major role since essential in our daily life.
I.e. here are some common problems which our Indian consumers overcome;
- No proper booking system for cylinder
(when booking made not responding properly)
(Even booking made takes several days to deliver without prior information)
- Extra amount been charged other than specified rate (bill not issued on booking so, the charge accordingly)
- Gas agencies force Consumers to collect cylinder from their store room/go down
- (due to insufficient labor)
- When cylinder been delivered, delivery agent not responding properly according to Customer satisfaction (disrespect the consumer and not valued)
- Cylinder been opened without consumer knowledge and delivered (if asked no proper response or delay in next delivery)
Important suggestions and points to implement to value consumers
- There should be some proper guidelines when consumers book their cylinder in order to avoid misterms between agency and consumers.
- Let the Gas agencies provide proper bills with the amount quoted by the government.
- Issue satisfiable salary to the delivery agents in order to avoid lack of labour, due to lack of labor delay in delivery.
- When purchasing Gas stove buy branded “ISI” to avoid leakages and damage.
- When cylinder delivered let the delivery agent carry weigh machine along with cylinder to avoid gas shortage.
- There should be strong law for higher billing and for the delivery agents who seeks for extra money during delivery and not returning the estimated Rs.8 when collected cylinder from agency.
- Should implement new insurance policies along with first booking for fire threaten etc.
- When cylinder booked at first along with provide all the safety rules, laws of consumer it will aware the consumers.
Conclusion:
As discussed herein the Consumers are not adequately protected regarding timely delivery, unethical payments, and right quantity of cylinder, in order to protect the Consumer we recommend government and other organizations to take proper measures outlines in this paper.
